The $18 million capital campaign aims to establish a center focused on expanding employment and career opportunities for people with visual impairment or blindness to become a model for other organizations across the United States. The 130,000 square foot VisABILITY Center located in West Allis, Wisconsin, will feature state-of-the-art universal Outside of VisABILITY Centerdesign, tailored for people with vision loss or blindness as well as other disabilities.

    Textured walkways to aid in wayfinding along with audio navigation aids and braille signage;

  • Ambient lighting to optimize the environment for people with limited vision and high contrast for people with low vision;
  • Accessible computer systems including software making every position in the organization available to people with vision loss;
  • Landscaping features which include, expanded green-spaces, service dog rest area, and public space for neighborhood inclusion;
  • Wellness center featuring adaptive technology on workout machines and treadmills to provide a healthier work environment for all employees.
  • Contracted internationally recognized architect Chris Downey, who is blind, to consult on the universal design aspects as well as guide the interior and exterior design for people with vision loss.
  • Space has been reserved for future growth and partnership opportunities.
  • Plans for a workforce innovation center to aid people who are blind in gaining job skills to advance in their careers. This includes upskilling Beyond Vision employees to encourage access to their full potential.
