At some point in our lives, we all face struggles, and sometimes we overcome them alone, while other times we seek the help of others. Mary Luczaj is an excellent example of a genuine and compassionate person who always offers her help when available because she believes it is the right thing to do.

Mary has been employed with Beyond Vision’s Accounting Department for two years. Mary decided to work at Beyond Vision based on the friendly culture and great group of people. Although working with people who are visually impaired and blind was new to Mary, she fit right in. Mary said part of her transition was easy because she attended the only grade school in New Berlin, WI, that taught children with disabilities. This experience at a young age made Mary comfortable with all disabilities. One thing Mary noticed right away while working at Beyond Vision was her co-workers’ high level of independence. By watching and asking questions, Mary also learned about guide dog etiquette and accessible technology for people with visual impairments.

In life, we all encounter different obstacles, pains, and struggles, but it is up to us how we view life after that. One of Mary’s favorite quotes is from her friend who suffered a brain tumor, and these uplifting words are “It gets brighter.” These words have influenced Mary to have a more positive outlook on life.

In summary, Mary’s compassion, willingness to help, and positive attitude are qualities that we can all aspire to have.
