Fund Development Leader

This position develops and coordinates all fund development efforts including donor relations, grant requests, and event planning. The person in this role will be responsible for developing new donors, maintaining existing donor relationships, and designing, tracking and assessing major gift fundraising metrics. Management of the grant process includes researching potential grants that align with our Mission, writing and preparing grant materials, and providing reports required by funders. The execution of events includes our annual golf fundraiser, Shot in the Dark!  As well as smaller donor and customer events, as needed. The ultimate focus of this role is to support our Mission of empowering people who are blind and visually impaired by striving to meet established fundraising goals.

 

Essential Functions

Donor Relations

  • Identify and develop relationships with new donors.
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with existing donors. 
  • Ensure activities are focused on meeting established goals.
  • Plan and implement donation programs like an annual giving campaign. 
  • Provide regular reporting on progress toward goals and activity working closely with accounting to provide accurate numbers and updates.
  • Attend and track networking events to create targeted donor opportunities.  Develop and provide presentations.  Serve as an ambassador for Beyond Vision and our Mission.
  • Lead and facilitate tours and meetings at Beyond Vision. 
  • Write donor proposals for new donors and build a major donor category.
  • Assist in communications efforts – content development, writing, promotions.
  • Provide content for annual report, newsletters and marketing materials as needed.

Grants

  • Study and understand the history, structure, objectives, programs, and financial needs of the organization.
  • Research new grant opportunities from government and non-government agencies including local, state, and national funders.
  • Draft grant proposals and supporting documents.
  • Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals.
  • Maintain positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain and submit reports related to grant opportunities.

Events

  • Work with event stakeholders to gain an understanding of the event’s purpose and goals.
  • Outline the scope of the event, including time, date, location, and budget.
  • Scout and inspect event venues.
  • Manage the budget and ensure event stays within guidelines.
  • Coordinate and manage scheduling and run of show at events ensuring timelines of activities run as planned with assistance from team members.

 

Qualifications

  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office.  Ability to use virtual meeting platforms like Zoom and Teams.

  • Use of CRM tools to manage data and reporting.

Required education and experience:

  • 5 years total experience in fund development – 3 in new donor development, 1+ in grant writing
  • History of excellent written and oral communications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Nonprofit experience preferred.
